Do you like jazz? Do you like dancing? If so, it’s time to put the two together!
Join the Swing Dance Club and Jazz Ensemble this Sunday, April 10, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Canyon Commons for some dancing to live music!
This will be the largest event hosted by the Swing Dance Club, so if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to dance, now is the time. Even if dancing is not your thing, swing by and listen to some of the amazing music.
- The basic lesson will run from 6:30 to 7 p.m., which is perfect for first-timers. Live music will be played for the following 45 minutes, giving you the chance to show off your skills and have some fun.
- The intermediate lesson will go from 7:45 to 8:15 p.m., when we’ll be teaching some more stylish moves. Afterwards, we will have 45 more minutes of wonderful jazz to finish off the night.
Be sure to invite your friends. Both employees and students are welcome!
If you have any questions, please contact Mark Berglin at mberglin19@georgefox.edu.

On Wednesday, June 8, the employee community will be observing a Day of Prayer. The two-fold purpose for this day is:
- To begin the new fiscal year and academic year prayerfully attentive to God’s direction
- To encourage the spiritual well-being of the employee community
Details:
- Employees are encouraged to spend their usual work hours on Wednesday, June 8, in prayer and spiritual retreat.
- Employees are welcome to enjoy their prayer retreat on campus, off campus, in their homes, or at an alternate site.
- The university pastors will provide an optional video which can be used at the beginning of an employee’s prayer retreat as well as a devotional to guide employees through the day of prayer.
During the Day of Prayer, employees are encouraged to:
- Have conversation with God about their work
- Pray for their colleagues, students and the university
- Attend to their personal soul care, talking with God about their own lives of faith, and experiencing the ministry of the Spirit
During the Day of Prayer, employees are discouraged from:
- Using this prayer retreat day for team meetings/in-services
- Doing other work (responding to emails, working on projects, meeting with people, etc.)
- Keeping their cell phones on/active
- Using the day as a vacation day. This is a soul care day, which may look a lot like a vacation day (a walk in the woods, journaling, reading, etc.) but should have an intentional spiritual formation focus and be directed by God.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office for Spiritual Life at spirituallife@georgefox.edu.

We are still in need of several volunteers to serve as ushers at spring commencement on Saturday, April 30. Commencement is divided into three separate ceremonies by Enterprise this year, and the schedule is as follows:
- 10 a.m.: Cultural Enterprise & George Fox Connect Ceremony
- 1 p.m.: Wellness Enterprise Ceremony
- 4 p.m.: Industrial Enterprise Ceremony
This new format will allow for a more personalized and celebratory atmosphere for our graduates and their families, but in order to host three ceremonies we need everyone’s help. Your enthusiasm and support are key to making this important day memorable for our graduates and their guests, and we could not do it without you!
Staff members, please sign up for a time to serve in one of the enterprise ceremonies. A $50 stipend or three hours of time off (with supervisor approval) is available for those employees not already scheduled to work. Non-employees who volunteer will receive a $50 gift card.
Thank you in advance, from the Commencement Planning Committee! Contact Laurie Fair at lfair@georgefox.edu with any questions.
