Staff advisor needed for new Tactical Club

Thursday, April 21st, 2022

A group students are looking for a staff member who would be interested in listing themselves as the advisor for the Tactical Club. We plan to start the club in the 2022-23 school year.

This club will focus on learning modern tactics and education, including discussions of communication, medical, equipment, and off-campus airsoft meet-ups. The advisor would need to do very minimal work, as the club would be heavily student run, but any experience in the area is always welcome.

If you are interested, or know someone who would be, please contact Nick Matichuk at nmatichuk20@georgefox.edu.

Maker Hub’s ‘Tool Tip Friday’: Vinyl Printer

Thursday, April 21st, 2022

Vinyl printing is the process of applying ink to vinyl sheets to produce graphics using a conventional inkjet printing method with solvent based inks. This is useful for making images into stickers, creating T-shirt graphics, and any task where the appearance of vinyl needs to be changed.

The Maker Hub’s Roland BN-20 packs everything into one powerful package! Printers similar to this are standard in small-scale custom clothing companies due to how easy it is to take a graphic from Adobe Illustrator to a piece of vinyl. With award-winning eco-solvent inks, including metallic and white options, a range of material compatibility, and integrated contour cutting, it is easily the most versatile print device in its class.

The BN-20 is perfect for creating T-shirt graphics, poster prints, stickers and decals, all from the comfort of your desktop. Check out this video to see how it works. For more information, check out the Maker Hub’s Wiki Page.

The Maker Hub exists as a resource and creative outlet for the entire George Fox community (yes, including non-engineers!). We are looking for student aces. A student ace is simply an expert on a piece of equipment who helps train other students on the usage of that equipment and gains extra privileges within the Maker Hub.

Please email makerhub@georgefox.edu if you would like to get connected or have any questions.
