Attend a ‘Diversity Dialogue’ about veterans on April 9
Join the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program for a “Diversity Dialogue” centered around veterans. The event will take place on Thursday, April 9, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Stevens 209.
We will be welcoming two licensed clinical social workers who work at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to provide information on how to support veterans as they learn about and access VA benefits.
We’ll also have a veteran share about their experience transitioning from the military into civilian life, and briefly discuss aspects of military culture.
Finally, part of our discussion will focus on resources at the VA, such as mental health support, supportive housing services, holistic health options, and the financial benefit COMPACT Act, which is for veterans in an acute suicidal crisis.
We’ll have plenty of information materials to share. We hope to see you there!
