Check out this student-endorsed study hack
If a senior biology pre-med student told you she discovered an amazing tool to create flashcards, practice quizzes, a visual mind map, or audio overview – a tool she wishes she had since her first year of college to help her master academic content – would you be curious? That student is real, and so is the tool.
NotebookLM is an AI-powered app available to all George Fox students and employees. Unlike ChatGPT or Gemini (which is also free for George Fox accounts), NotebookLM’s interactions are based solely on material you upload.
You can add almost unlimited digital content to a NotebookLM notebook, including readings, notes, audio recordings, slides, and specific web pages.
Key Features and Usage
- Studio Tools: Use the “Studio” tools to instantly create resources like quizzes, flashcards, mind maps, or audio overviews – all derived from your designated content. For example, a student can upload class documents and notes to generate practice quizzes and flashcards that align with course lectures and materials.
- Chat: Chat within NotebookLM by asking questions or giving instructions that receive responses based only on the designated content.
- Sharing: You can share your notebook with others who have a George Fox email address.
For more information, see this overview from Google or the Complete How-To Guide to NotebookLM from another source. Note that features are frequently updated, so these resources may be slightly out of date but remain helpful.
(A caveat: If creating your own learning materials helps you learn more effectively, stick with that method!)
