Submit Fox360 Alerts for students of concern

Tuesday, February 24th, 2026

As we approach the middle of the semester, we can be grateful that many students are thriving. A few, however, might be struggling with the demands of college, family, health, or personal care.

If you have concerns about a traditional undergraduate student, log into Fox360 to submit an “alert” for the student. Submit alerts for concerns in the following areas:

  • Academic – Missing multiple classes; consistently poor academic performance
  • Behavioral – Concerning or disruptive behaviors in or outside of class; frequent absence from scheduled work shifts
  • Emotional – Mental health concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety); unusual emotional expression; suicidal ideation
  • Physical – Medical concerns; extreme changes in grooming, personal care
  • Social – Personal, social, or family concerns that are affecting well-being and performance

A few notes about alerts:

  • If a student is enrolled in your course but hasn’t attended class or engaged in George Fox online activity, submit an alert.
  • Student employee supervisors and other non-faculty are invited to submit alerts for the reasons above.

The Student Support Network will assign a “case manager” to follow up with students. Case managers will do our best to give updates to faculty and employees who submit alerts or provide feedback. You are welcome to contact Jere Witherspoon at jwithers@georgefox.edu to inquire about the status of a student.

This Fox360 Quick Guide provides a visual overview of the Fox360 system. More details about using Fox360 are available in this Google Doc.

Concerns about graduate and AOD students should be communicated to department chairs.

If you have questions or would like more information regarding Fox360, contact Rick Muthiah at rmuthiah@georgefox.edu.

Wellness Wednesday: Heart Health

Tuesday, February 24th, 2026

February is American Heart Month, but did you know that heart disease doesn’t always play by the same rules for everyone? For women, the signs can be subtle – think unusual fatigue or a nagging ache in the jaw rather than the “classic” chest pain.

This month, we’re encouraging everyone to take a beat and check in with themselves. Whether it’s scheduling that long-overdue physical or finally asking your provider about those “minor” symptoms, staying proactive is the ultimate power move for your health. Let’s keep those hearts beating strong – not just for the people we love, but for ourselves!

Find helpful resources about women’s heart health here.

Recommend students to be ARC consultants

Tuesday, February 24th, 2026

Do you have a student who is not only doing well in your course but also naturally helps their peers succeed? The Academic Resource Center is looking for ARC consultants for the 2026-27 academic year. We welcome all majors to apply.

We’re looking for relatable, supportive peers who can coach others in general learning and study strategies and writing. If you’ve noticed a student who has a heart for helping others, please encourage them to apply – or send their name to Heather Harney at hharney@georgefox.edu.

The job is on Handshake under “Academic Mentor.” The deadline for applications is March 6.

Participate in a physical therapy study

Tuesday, February 24th, 2026

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is seeking participants for our research study “Influences of Lower Limb Strength and Rate of Torque Development on Recovery from a Backwards Balance Loss.”

We’re interested in the effects of lower body strength on the ability to recover from a loss of balance and how people step when they lose their balance.

To participate, you must be between 18 and 45, able to tolerate losing your balance multiple times while wearing a safety harness, weigh under 250 pounds, and be willing to have your ankle, knee and hip strength tested.

To participate, you must NOT have the following:

  • A physical condition that would limit testing
  • A neurological disease, osteoporosis, or an uncontrolled chronic illness such as heart disease or diabetes
  • Use an assistive device to perform daily activities
  • Report balance problems, dizziness, serious illness, hospitalization, lower limb broken bones, concussion, loss of consciousness, or major surgery in the last six months
  • An injury or condition that limited your physical activity or been pregnant in the last three months
  • An amputated limb
  • Allergies or sensitivity to tape

Also, you must not take medications that impair cognitive function, pain sensation or balance in the 12 hours before the study activities.

If you’re interested and meet the above criteria, you would come to the George Fox University’s Medical Sciences Building on Werth Boulevard, where we would ask you to sign an informed consent form and answer questions on a questionnaire. Depending on your responses to the questionnaires, you may or may not be eligible for the study.

If you meet the study criteria, you will be asked to continue the single testing session where you will be made to lose your balance multiple times in a safety harness while performing a squat task and have your ankle, knee and hip strength tested while sitting. Your participation in this study will involve approximately 60-75 minutes of time.

You will not be paid for being in this study or reimbursed for any costs associated with traveling to/from the university campus. You are able to stop participation in the study at any time and for any reason. No information that would identify you will be made public, and we do not feel there is more than minimal risk associated with this study.

Questions? Contact Lyndsay Stutzenberger at lstutzenberger@georgefox.edu.

Submit student recommendations now for admissions internships next year

If you know any highly motivated students who love George Fox and are looking for an on-campus job next year, we’d love to have them apply. We have found that a student is more likely to apply if they are personally recommended by a staff or faculty member who knows them.

With that in mind, please submit any recommendations using this form, or send a personal email to a student encouraging them to apply using this link
