Join the Community Conversation: Do cities need the National Guard?
In times of polarization, it can be hard to know the truth about controversial issues – even when we live a short drive from a center of visible controversy.
At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, George Fox students, employees, and Newberg and Dundee community members will gather in Canyon Commons to discuss unrest in major American cities and the deployment of National Guard units there.
Participants will sit at tables with a few others – some of whom they may not know – and will be asked to listen closely enough to summarize another person’s views before sharing their own. The emphasis will be on listening and discovering areas of common ground.
Community Conversations is co-sponsored by Newberg/Dundee United as Neighbors and the George Fox University Civility Project. Everyone is invited to join the conversation. For more information, contact Ron Mock at civility@georgefox.edu.
