Check out these flu season health tips

With flu season here, it’s important to keep yourself healthy. While you can’t always avoid it, there are some great ways to lower the risk of catching the flu. Check out these tips:

  • Get a flu shot: Protect yourself and those around you by getting vaccinated. It’s recommended that most individuals aged six months and older receive the flu vaccine each year.
  • Cover your cough: Next time you feel a sneeze or cough coming on, grab a tissue or the inside of your elbow to cover your mouth and nose.
  • Wash your hands and disinfect: Regular hand-washing with soap and warm water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is key.
  • Practice good hygiene: Keep frequently touched surfaces like countertops, handrails and doorknobs clean and shining like new.

Where can you receive a flu shot? Flu vaccines are covered for Providence Health Plan members. Here’s how to find a participating pharmacy:

  1. Visit your online myProvidence member portal to find participating pharmacies.
  2. You can also go to the online provider directory and search by your member ID or provider network. Choose “Find a Service or Place” and click “Pharmacies.” Select “Find a Pharmacy,” enter your ZIP Code and select the type of pharmacy you are looking for. Look for a pharmacy that offers “Vaccination Services” in your network.
  3. You may also call the number listed on your Providence Health Plan member ID card for help in finding a participating pharmacy that can provide vaccinations near you.

Free flu and Covid-19 shots will be available at the Health and Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Canyon Commons. Bring your insurance card.
