Loan props to the theater department for our fall production, ‘The Hiding Place’

Wednesday, September 25th, 2024

The upcoming fall theater production needs your help. We’re looking for people willing to loan props for the show season.

This fall’s show, “The Hiding Place,” is set in Holland in 1937. We are looking to borrow hanging wall clocks, table clocks, watches and watchmaking tools. The more time-period accurate, the better. Most will be set dressings, placed on stage and unmoved, but some will be handled and interacted with by actors.

Please contact Atalia Fisher at afisher23@georgefox.edu or Mack Goodsel at mgoodsel23@georgefox.edu about items or if you have any questions.

Support the Bruin Community Pantry by signing up for Miles for Meals

Tuesday, September 24th, 2024

There’s still time to sign up for Miles for Meals! This wellness challenge starts Oct. 1, aiming to promote food security in our community while encouraging everyone to stay active.

We are challenging faculty and staff to collectively cover 5,000 miles over the first three weeks of October. You can participate as an individual or form a team of up to five members.

Consider donating food or money (see preferred donations here) to the Bruin Community Pantry. You’ll be contributing to a great cause that serves over 5,000 students and residents each year.

Providence has provided a simple tool to track your activities. You can do all forms of activity to go that extra mile.

Weekly prizes include two $50 Fred Meyer gift cards, and the team with the highest average mileage will win $150 Fred Meyer gift cards for each member.

When we reach our goal, local businesses will donate to the pantry, amplifying our impact!

Ready to join us? Click here to sign up! Questions? Contact Aga Kasprzyk at akasprzyk@georgefox.edu.

Take this survey to help George Fox meet your athletic and recreational interests

Tuesday, September 24th, 2024

Every other year, the Office of Student Life distributes a survey to assess athletic and recreational interest and participation. The purpose of the survey is to determine the extent to which the athletic and recreational interests and abilities of students at George Fox University are being met by the current recreational, intramural, club and intercollegiate athletic offerings.

Last week, you received an email from the Office of Student Life about completing this survey. If you have not completed it already, we encourage you to do so! Here is a link to the survey. It should require less than 10 minutes of your time.

The information, which is being requested from all students, will be used by the university for evaluation, research and planning purposes. Please note that all responses are strictly confidential. No personal identifying information is collected, and while we do ask for some demographic information, this information cannot be used to identify you.

Thanks for your participation in this survey and enjoy the rest of your semester!

Reminder: Curriculum proposals must be initiated by Friday

Tuesday, September 24th, 2024

Here are a few reminders about the revised curriculum proposal process:

  • Any curricular change intended for the 2025-26 academic year must be initiated by Friday, Sept. 27, 2024. The initiate form simply asks proposers to answer five brief questions, which are then sent to their dean/program director for approval of the idea.
  • After approval is given, the curriculum clerk (during the month of October) will work with the proposer to develop and finalize the full curriculum proposal document for review by their division curriculum committee based on the desired curriculum change.
  • Complete proposals (for any curricular change) should be emailed to curriculum@georgefox.edu.
  • Proposals will be considered by division curriculum committees in the order they are received starting in mid-September.

A link to the initiate form can be found here or on the Curriculum Council website.

Questions about the curriculum process can be emailed to curriculum@georgefox.edu.
