Remove litter and replace invasive plants with the Stewards of Sustainability Club this Saturday

Did you know that one out of three fish caught for human consumption contain microplastics? Litter often gets washed into waterways and eventually makes its way to the ocean. Fortunately, SOLVE is hosting a great opportunity to combat this issue in our own community!

This Saturday, Sept. 9, as part of a statewide effort to clean up our beaches and rivers, volunteers will meet to remove litter and replace invasive plants with native ones in one of Newberg’s natural spaces. The university’s Stewards of Sustainability Club would like to put together a team of volunteers to join their efforts in protecting our local waterways. Read more about the event here.

If you want to join, we will be meeting in the parking lot in front of the Roberts Center at 8:40 a.m. to walk over together, expecting to be back by 11:45 a.m. You can also meet us there at 346 Corinne Dr., in Newberg. Gloves will be provided. Please email Lilly McAfee at lmcafee19@georgefox.edu by Thursday to sign up.
