Student loan forgiveness application now live

Monday, October 17th, 2022

The Department of Education and the federal government have announced a student loan debt relief plan for federally held loans that were disbursed onto your account before June 30, 2022. This means that you may be able to receive up to $10,000 or $20,000 in debt relief depending on income and if you received a Pell Grant.

The application for this forgiveness is now live at studentaid.gov. The application takes five minutes to complete and does not require you to upload any additional documentation at the time of submission. You are encouraged to apply before Nov. 15 if you want to see your balance shrink before the end of the payment pause in January.

Who Qualifies?

  • Loans that qualify would include Stafford, Grad PLUS, and Parent PLUS loans.
  • Individuals who made less than $125,000 in 2021 or 2020
  • Families that made less than $250,000 in 2021 or 2020

*If you are a dependent student, the income limit will be based on your parent’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). To find the AGI, you will need to look at the 1040 tax return, line 11.

For more information regarding this debt relief plan, please visit the FAQ page at studentaid.gov.

Last chance to sign up your children for cooking class on Thursday

Monday, October 17th, 2022

Bon Appétit invites George Fox faculty and staff’s elementary school-aged children in grades K-5 to join us this Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Canyon Commons 101 for a special culinary workshop featuring activities on healthy eating and cooking.

During this fun and interactive program, the George Fox culinary team will demonstrate how whole fruits and vegetables can be transformed into a healthy meal. By learning about the connection between what they eat and their ability to do what they enjoy, children will go home with a newfound power to make better choices for their health.

You are welcome to accompany your child during the two-hour program, or you can leave him/her with our team and use the time for your own productivity. If you choose to leave, we encourage you to join us for our “Healthy Kids Picnic” during the final 20 minutes of the program. This workshop is free, but space is limited.

If you’re interested, please register here.

If you have questions about the event, contact Bon Appetit’s Healthy Kids Program Coordinator Nina Abramson at nina.abramson@cafebonappetit.com.
