Here are some details about multi-factor authentication

By now, most of you have set up multi-factor authentication that you use when accessing login.georgefox.edu. Here are a couple things that you may want to know:

  1. Voice call authentication allows you to receive a phone call and hear a code. Calls can be easily forwarded from your office phone to any other phone number.
  2. When you get a new phone, you may not be able to authenticate. This disruption will keep you from accessing your email, Canvas or other items accessed at login.georgefox.edu. This could be particularly problematic when the Service Desk is closed.

We recommend that you set up more than one method of authentication. There are four methods available:

  • Okta Verify
  • Google Authenticator
  • SMS authentication
  • Voice call authentication

If you use Okta Verify or Google Authenticator, use SMS or voice call as a second option. Both Okta Verify and Google Authenticator apps will transfer to your new phone, but the account settings will not transfer over.
