Did you know that the Maker Hub has a welding simulator? The Maker Hub’s Miller AugmentedArc virtual reality welding system is the industry’s most realistic welding simulation solution for classroom training.
For beginner to advanced-level welding students, the AugmentedArc system simulates multiple welding processes, blending real-world and computer-generated images into a unique, augmented reality environment! Check out this video to see how it works!
The Maker Hub exists as a resource and creative outlet for the entire George Fox community (yes, including non-engineers!). We are looking for student aces. A student ace is simply an expert on a piece of equipment who helps train other students on the usage of that equipment and gains extra privileges within the Maker Hub.
Please email makerhub@georgefox.edu if you would like to get connected or have any questions.

Midterm grades provide an accurate picture of your academic progress so far this semester.
The last day to withdraw from a class without a graded responsibility for a class you may be struggling in is Sunday, Nov. 7. This means that if you withdraw from a class, your transcript will show a “W.” If you do not withdraw now and ultimately do not pass a course, your GPA will suffer.
If your professor has not yet given you a midterm grade, please contact them right away to find out where you stand in that course.
Information regarding withdrawing from a class can be found here.
Students who received a D or an F on their midterms should contact their CAP coach as soon as possible to discuss the consequences of withdrawing from a class. If a student withdraws from a class, they should also contact their CAP coach to discuss their class schedule for future semesters.
Follow this link to contact CAP coaches.
Other resources for students are easily accessible on campus:
If you need help or have any questions, please contact studentlife@georgefox.edu.

The university community is invited to attend the Fall Faculty Lecture, presented by Associate Professor of Nursing Lorretta Krautscheid, this Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Hoover 105.
Krautscheid, chair of the College of Nursing and recipient of the 2020-21 Faculty Achievement Award for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship, will present “Moral Distress: What Do We Know and What Can Be Done?”
Her presentation will provide insight into a nursing attrition dilemma that has seen approximately 17% of newly registered nurses leave the profession within the first year of practice. She contends that moral distress, defined as feeling constrained from action upon one’s ethical knowing, is a key factor in this trend.
She will present moral distress research findings among students and novice post-licensure nurses and discuss education recommendations promoting resilience-protective factors.
