Information about staying safe on campus

Campus Public Safety would like to remind you of these safety tips to help keep you safe on and off campus:

  • After dark, it is recommended to walk with a trusted companion.
  • If you feel threatened, call 503-554-2090.
  • Stay in well-lit areas and avoid alleys, dark corners, and bushes whenever possible, and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Carry a whistle, and use it if you feel threatened.
  • Carry a fully charged cell phone.
  • Close exterior doors behind you as you enter your hall.
  • Do not allow anyone to enter who is not accompanied by another resident.
  • Escort your visitors to the exterior door when they leave.
  • Do not prop open exterior doors and close those that you find open.
  • If you live on the ground floor, keep your windows locked.
  • Be sure to lock your room door if you will be away, even for a minute.
  • Share information about suspicious activities with Campus Public Safety.
