Liberty Pike speaks on abortion and pro-life movement Nov. 8

The Students for Life Club is excited to host guest speaker Liberty Pike, who works for Oregon Right to Life, on Wednesday, Nov. 8. She will be addressing the issue of abortion and the depth and importance of the pro-life cause from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Hoover 103.

Liberty will also be talking about how to love those who have been affected by abortion and what our actions should be to balance grace and truth together. All are welcome to the event, and we hope to bring a light to a topic that is so easily pushed into the darkness and never talked about.

Finalize your textbook adoptions

Become a math tutor for high school students

Catalyst Alternative High School in Newberg is looking for math tutors.

These students are some of the brightest out there, but due to past complications in school and/or home life, many of them have given up. The extra encouragement and guidance from you would be crucial to them understanding the material. The math levels are high school algebra 1 & 2, geometry, and statistics.

Get hyped for Fox and Friendsview! This Monday, Nov. 6, we will be partnering with Friendsview for our second intergenerational game night of the year. This is a great opportunity to interact with our elderly friends in the Newberg community and is a great way to brighten their day.

Deadline to withdraw from classes is Sunday, Nov. 5

Sunday, Nov. 5 is the last day to withdraw from a class without a grade responsibility. This means that if you withdraw, you will receive a “W” on your transcript. If you are failing a class and don’t withdraw, your GPA will be affected in a negative way. Information regarding withdrawing from a class can be found here.

Students with a D or an F on their midterms should make an appointment with their CAP coach as soon as possible to discuss the ramifications of withdrawing from a class. Students withdrawing from a class should contact their CAP coach as well to discuss their class schedule for future semesters. CAP coaches can be reached by clicking this link.

Important info for tomorrow’s home football game

Our last regular-season home football game is tomorrow (Saturday) against Pacific Lutheran! Join us at 1:15 p.m. for a pre-game ceremony to honor our senior football players, and then for the game at 2 p.m.

Bauman Parking Lot
Be sure to move your cars out of the Bauman parking lot and the tennis court parking lot on Friday evening. This space will be dedicated to football fan parking, activities and vendors on Saturday.

Entrances to the Game
There will be two entrances into the game and both are located in the Bauman parking lot, directly behind the stadium.

Wheeler Sports Center Closed
The Wheeler Sports Center will be closed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This means the basketball gym, racquetball courts and locker rooms will be closed. The Fitness Center will remain open for normal business hours, but you will need to enter through the hallway entrance located on the field level, toward the end of the building near the tennis courts. There will be security officers who will ask you where you are headed; just let them know that you are going to work out.

Bauman Walkway
The sidewalk located between the football stadium and Bauman will be closed. Please walk around the building and do not move the barricade.

Circle Parking Lot
The circle parking lot near Wheeler will be closed for the day. This space is reserved for officials to park in. Officials will arrive as early as 10 a.m.

Sideline Passes
No one will be granted field access without a sideline pass. Sideline passes are issued to those who are required to work and/or have official business during the game.

Tickets
Students and staff can show their ID cards at the gate to get into the game free of charge. Additional tickets can be purchased online or at the gate by visiting this page.

Flu shot clinic in Klages Center today

There is a flu shot clinic today (Friday) from 11:40 a.m. – 1:20 p.m. in the Klages Center, KAC 231.

There is no cost for Kaiser members. If you are not a Kaiser member, the clinic bills most major insurance, including Regence (be sure to bring your ID card with you).

The theme for this year’s Fall Retreat is “Filled to the Measure,” inspired by Ephesians 3:19, where Paul says, “and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” We’ll spend the weekend learning from one another various ways to encounter the character of God and engage in spiritual growth. Many of your peers will be leading these sessions and are so excited to share with you.

We are so excited to be featuring artist Hannah Glaver as our guest musician to lead us in worship this weekend. Hannah is the worship pastor at Imago Dei Church and has recorded with music artist Liz Vice.

Fall Retreat is Nov. 10-12. What better time to escape from your ordinary, busy life and spend some time at Twin Rocks on the beautiful Oregon Coast with your friends? Registration is a non-refundable fee of $30.

Health & Counseling Center hosts “Friendship Factory” class

Learn how to build new friendships, be a better friend, and improve your relationship skills. Whether you’re a social butterfly or wallflower, this class is for you! “The Friendship Factory” is a three-week class and will be held in the Health & Counseling Center classroom from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 14, and 21.

Commuters: Build community at small-group meetings

Hello Commuters!

Our commuter team is putting together some cool stuff based off your feedback to the Commuter Life Needs Assessment survey we sent out! One popular response many of you mentioned was to have some sort of small-group system set in place to get in touch with reps and other commuters on a more frequent basis.

Below is a list of available times that the commuter reps will be in the FoxHole to meet with whoever is wanting to join them. This is an intentional space for the reps to get to know and connect with you, as well as space for commuters to get connected with each other on a consistent basis. If you are interested in joining one of these groups, feel free to go to the FoxHole at a time below that you are available!

Here is when the groups are taking place:

  • Brianna: Monday at 4 p.m.
  • Jay: Tuesdays at 2 p.m.
  • Ashlee: Tuesday at 3 p.m.
  • Whitne: Thursday at 11 a.m.
  • Bailey: Wednesday at 3 p.m.
  • Ben: Friday at 4 p.m.

Whatever happens in the hour is up to your groups! We hope that this can be a time for you to build community with one another. We hope to see you there!

Learn more about Foster Parents Night Out this Saturday

Interested in volunteering on a monthly basis mentoring kids and teens in foster care? Want to help give their foster parents a night off? Volunteer with Foster Parents Night Out (FPNO).

These events happen on a monthly basis from 4 to 8 p.m. at Church on the Hill in McMinnville. Training is coming up Saturday, Nov. 4 (please note new date from previous announcement) at Columbia River Foursquare Church in St. Helens from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
