Artist April Flanders speaks tonight at Chehalem Cultural Center

The university community is invited to Art Talk tonight (Monday), as printmaker April Flanders speaks about her work from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Chehalem Cultural Center (415 E. Sheridan St.).

In her current work, Flanders ponders the implications of a globalized landscape using a variety of media, including printmaking, painting, drawing and installation. As a classically trained printmaker, she employs ink on paper to create compelling rhythms with color, texture and repetition using a variety of print methods. She is more completely engaged, however, when she challenges the boundaries of traditional printmaking by cutting, folding and sculpting her prints so that they take shape beyond the frame.

There will be food and drink at the talk, as well as a question-and-answer time. In addition, after the lecture there will be an open invitation at the Lindgren Gallery to view her work.
