New Spanish courses to be offered in coming semesters

World Languages, Sociology and Cultural Studies will be offering new courses next year for our Heritage Speakers of Spanish and those interested in Latino/a Studies.

In the fall semester, we are offering:

  • LIBA100S: the current LIBA100 course taught in Spanish and English
  • SPAN285 Intermediate Spanish for Heritage Speakers of Spanish: This course emphasizes reading and writing in Spanish.

In the spring semester, we are offering:

  • SPAN285 Introduction to Latino/a Studies, which introduces Latino/a literature and cultures in the United States from the 1820s to the present, paying close attention to the historical and social events that have influenced the construction of U.S. Latino/a identities. Taught in English.
  • SPAN303: Intermediate/Advanced Spanish for Heritage Speakers of Spanish
