November is busy month for concerts on campus

George Fox will host a series of concerts this month, showcasing the talents of its students while also featuring guest artists. All will take place in Bauman Auditorium.

This Thursday, Nov. 3, a Students in Recital session begins the busy month with a performance at 10:50 a.m. That evening, a Symphonic Band concert is scheduled at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 5, the university’s choirs – the Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Master Chorus and Women’s Chorale – will perform Requiem by Gabriel Faurè. Admission to all three concerts is free, and seating is general.

Next week, a free Chehalem Symphonic Orchestra concert is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. And that Friday, Nov. 11, George Fox will host “An Evening of Jazz,” featuring Dave Pietro on alto saxophone and the university’s Jazz Ensemble and Faculty Trio. Pietro is described as “possessing a warm, lyrical sound that takes on color and emotional heat as he swings.” He has toured and/or recorded with the bands of Woody Herman, Lionel Hampton, Maynard Ferguson and other jazz luminaries.

Students and employees are entitled to one free ticket to “An Evening of Jazz.” Additional tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and alumni, and $6 for students and children. They are available for purchase online at georgefox.edu/concerts.

Finally, on Sunday, Nov. 13, a Hymn Festival and Organ Concert, featuring organist Dan Miller, is set for 6 p.m. The event will feature many well-known hymns, with the audience encouraged to sing along. General admission tickets are $5 and are also available at georgefox.edu/concerts. Students are entitled to a free ticket to that event as well.
