On Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10:20 a.m., the university will participate in The Great Oregon Shake Out, an exercise designed to test the school’s emergency notification systems as well as create dialogue among the George Fox community on how to be personally prepared should an earthquake occur.
While the potential earthquake hazards depend upon your location, you could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes – at home, at work, at school or even on vacation. What we do now will determine our quality of life after our next big earthquake. Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly?
The Great Oregon ShakeOut is an annual opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: “Drop, Cover and Hold On.” The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage us to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies and to secure our spaces in order to prevent damage and injuries.
Stay tuned each week, as we will provide a link to resources to help you get ready.
