Librarians visit, play ‘First Lady Lou’ presented this week
The Association of Christian Librarians 60th annual conference is scheduled on the George Fox campus June 13-17. The conference will draw librarians from around the United States and several foreign countries.
Conference events include a presentation of the play First Lady Lou, a one-woman dramatization of the life of Lou Hoover, wife of President Herbert Hoover, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, in Wood-Mar Auditorium. The play features professional actress Jane Fellows in the title role. The campus community is invited to the presentation with tickets, available at the door, for $5.
After the play, a “talk-back†session with Fellows and Leslie Hoover-Lauble, great-granddaughter of Herbert and Lou Hoover, will be moderated by the university’s archivist Rachel Thomas. Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States, attended the precursor to George Fox, Friends Pacific Academy, in the 1880s.
