‘Science and Society’ lecture is tonight in Hoover 105
The campus community is invited to a Liberal Arts and Critical Issues presentation, “Science and Society: Moving Beyond Cultural Mythologies,” tonight (Monday) in Hoover 105. The session runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and features Arnold Sikkema, professor of physics at Trinity Western University.
The Western attitude, both Christian and otherwise, toward science represents a curious vacillation between idolization and vilification. Sikkema’s talk will review elements of the history, nature and limits of science, including a critique of physical reductionism, to help place science appropriately within the human endeavor.
