Comings and Goings
Human resources welcomes Kera Hallman as a payroll specialist this month. She arrives with more than eight years of management experience and more than 11 years of administrative support experience. Most recently, she worked the past four years as a human resources assistant for Chehalem Youth and Family Services of Newberg. Before that, she was an administrative assistant to the lead pastor at Element3 Church in Tallahassee, Fla. (2007-09). Her community involvement has included organizations such as Faith in Action (board of directors), the Newberg Fire Department (auxiliary member) and the Newberg Chamber of Commerce (volunteer). She and her husband, Les, live in Newberg with their two children, Mitchell and Reid. The family attends Newberg Christian Fellowship.
Jennifer Kepler joined the academic affairs office as an administrative assitant this month. For the past six years she has worked as a program coordinator at Oregon Health & Science University, providing administrative support for a research training program and assisting in the preparation of grant proposals. Before that, she spent two years at the University of California, San Diego, as a laboratory coordinator. Jennifer also gained higher education experience as a faculty research assistant at Oregon State University from 2001 to 2005. She holds a master’s degree in education from Oregon State University (2013) and a bachelor’s degree in biology from OSU (2001). Jennifer lives in Newberg with her husband Richard. They have a 4-year-old son (Jonathan) and are looking forward to the arrival of their newest addition (a boy) later in the fall. The family attends Newberg Christian Church.
The graduate admissions team at the Portland Center welcomed Kelly Lafferty as an inquiry and applications coordinator last week. As a student in the George Fox’s Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling program, Kelly worked as a student employee in graduate admissions this summer. Previously, from 2008 to 2012, she served as an education assistant for the Clackamas Education Service District in Clackamas, Ore. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from Portland State University (2008). She lives in Estacada with children KC (21), Kristina (19) and Kaden (14) and attends Estacada Assembly of God.
