Comings and Goings

The marketing communications department hired alumnus Rob Leslie last week as Web usability and search engine optimization (SEO) administrator. He’s worked the last three years as online marketing manager and quality assurance analyst for OAC LLC, a B2B software company in Gresham. In 2010, Rob earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from George Fox, where he served as ASC communications director his final two years. He is in the process of moving to Newberg from his home in Gresham.


After 35 years of service to the university, Hank Helsabeck is retiring this spring. He has served as dean of the School of Arts and Sciences the past nine years and, before that, was a professor of math and computer science. He plans to take the next year to discover his future plans. “I’m convinced God has something for me besides biking, jogging and puzzle-solving,” he says.

Bonnie Jerke (Career Services) is retiring this spring after 33 years at George Fox. She has served as director of Career Services the past 29 years in addition to being Academic Success Program director part time during 14 of those years. Prior to that, Bonnie was a resident director living in Edwards Hall and also supervised RAs in apartment and house living areas. She plans to move back to her native Montana.

Carol Sherwood (Nursing) will retire this spring after returning to the university in 2012 on a one-year contract. She taught previously at George Fox for two years before retiring in 2008 and teaching on an adjunct basis.

Lois Hutchinson (Financial Affairs) is retiring from the university this spring. She is getting married and moving to Beaverton.

Mikell Benham (Portland Center Library) is retiring from George Fox this spring.
