Music department invites community to two free concerts this week
The university community is invited to two free concerts in Bauman Auditorium this week. On Friday, April 12, a Spring Jazz Concert, featuring the school’s Jazz Combo and Jazz Ensemble, is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
Selections by the Jazz Combo will include “Take the ‘A’ Train” and “Someday My Prince Will Come.” The Jazz Ensemble is set to play “Sugar,” “All the Things You Are,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “I Love You,” “And That’s That,”, “Shiny Stockings” and “Tickletoe.” Both groups are directed by Nathanael Ankeny.
On Sunday, April 14, the Chehalem Symphony Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. The orchestra, directed by Travis Hatton, will perform Jean Sibelius’ “Spring Song, op. 16,” Leo Delibes’ “Duet – Sous le dome epais from Lakme,” Albert Franz Doppler’s “Fantaisie Pastorale Hongroise,” Edward Lalo’s “Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, D minor” and Robert Schumann’s “Symphony #4, D minor, op. 120.”
Featured performers Sunday include Diana Koba (soprano), Suvi Mirka (mezzo soprano), Jessica Sokoloff (flute) and Rebecca Schroeder (cello).
