Foxserve file conversion taking place in coming weeks
IT is upgrading the equipment responsible for Newberg department shares (K: drive) over the next six to eight weeks. What you know as the server “foxserve†is being replaced by “fileserve.†There is nothing you need to do to make this happen; IT will migrate your files for you.
Some administrative offices will be migrated in the next two weeks. Academic offices and the remaining administrative offices will be migrated in May, following the completion of the spring semester.
If you are a Windows user, you will see a new drive letter (J: drive) in your Windows Explorer window in the next few days. If you are a Mac user, after the migration you will want to use this new connection string – “smb://fileserve.campus.georgefox.edu/â€Â – and open the Employee Shares folder.
We ask that you refrain from using Fileserve (J: drive) until we migrate your department. We will communicate with point people in each department when your migration gets closer.
If you have any questions, please e-mail servicedesk@georgefox.edu.
