Joel Perez discusses immigration in Monday’s LACI lecture
The university’s spring Liberal Arts and Critical Issues series continues this Monday, March 4, with a lecture by Joel Perez, dean of inclusion and leadership at George Fox. The presentation is the latest on the theme “State of the Union.”
Monday’s session runs from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 105. Joel will present “Actions are Illegal, Never People: Comprehending the Complexity of Immigration in the U.S.,” in which he will provide a brief history of immigration in the U.S. and its appeal as an immigrant destination. He’ll also share stories of current immigrants, with a focus on those who would benefit from legislation such as the DREAM Act.
The same session is presented from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.
