Volunteers Needed for Special Olympics Summer State Games
George Fox is honored to once again to partner with the Oregon Special Olympics State Games as a host site. Â The Games are in need of volunteers – please consider serving the community at this great event.
The Summer Games are the state championship competitions in the sports of athletics (track & field), bocce, golf and softball for Special Olympics Oregon athletes. Â All athletes and teams have trained in their hometowns for 8 weeks prior to the Summer Games and have qualified to compete at the Summer State Games at a regional level competition.
Date:  July 14 – 15, 2012
Sports: Â Athletics (Track & Field), Bocce, Golf Softball
Positions Include:  Sports venues—timers, scorekeepers, runners, announcers, staging, results, forecaddies, judges, spotters, awards, officials, umpires, lunch distribution, set-up, tear-down.  There are also opportunities to help at Olympic Town, Healthy Athletes, lunch support and many other things.
Time:  Generally, volunteer shifts are 4—5 hours on either Saturday or Sunday.
Age:  You must be 16 years or older to volunteer independently. Children 12 – 15 years old must volunteer with a parent.
Training: Â We will have key volunteers provide training at the beginning of your shift.
