VP from CATO Institute speaks on campus Wednesday
Christopher A. Preble, the vice president for defense and foreign policy studies at the CATO Institute, will visit George Fox on Wednesday, March 14.
A guest of George Fox’s Department of History and Political Science, Preble will speak from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 105. The topic of his session is “Solving America’s Power Problem: Why a More Modest Foreign Policy and a Smaller Military Will Keep us Safe and Free.â€
Preble, an author and media personality who has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NPR and the BBC, among other media outlets, was a commissioned officer for the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga from 1990 to 1993. Most recently, he authored the book The Power Problem: How American Military Dominance Makes Us Less Safe, Less Prosperous and Less Free, in which he argues and documents the enormous costs of America’s military power, and poses a new grand strategy to advance U.S. security.
The Cato Institute, based in Washington D.C., is a public policy research organization – a think tank – dedicated to the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets and peace.
