Comings and Goings

doty-trey.jpgTrey Doty was hired as director of seminary development in July. He arrives from the Arthur Lutz Foundation in Portland, where he oversaw grant strategy, donor management, and fund development as executive director from 2005 to 2007. Before that, he was the lead pastor of Christus Church in Portland from 2000 to 2004. Trey earned both a master’s and bachelor’s degree from George Fox, earning a BS in sociology in 1995 and an MDiv in 2000. He is also a recorded minister through the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church. He lives in Portland with wife Stephanie and two children, Haley (11) and Drew (7). He attends City’s Edge Community Church in Beaverton.


nakashimada_bonnie-web.jpgBonnie Nakashimada was hired as the director of regional sites last week. For the past five years she worked in Wilsonville as the director of church health for the Pacific Northwest District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. She worked for the same organization as an executive assistant from 1999 to 2003, and before that Bonnie was an associate/youth pastor of the Portland Alliance Church for 16 years. Her position is a new one and will be responsible for overseeing the directors at the Portland, Salem, Boise, and Redmond sites. Bonnie earned a bachelor’s degree in religious education from Canadian Bible College in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1982. She lives in Canby with her son Michal and daughter Alexa. They attend Canby Alliance Church.


tobey-dot.jpgDot Tobey began work as an undergraduate admissions counselor in July. A 2008 graduate of George Fox, she served as an intern in the university’s admissions office her senior year, helping plan events, conducting tours, and corresponding with prospective students. Before that, she was a co-director of a teens ministry program at Canyonview Camp in Silverton in 2005-06. Dot earned a bachelor’s degree in writing/literature. She lives in Newberg.


cruthirds-erin.jpgErin Cruthirds joined George Fox as a part-time administrative assistant in Redmond. She was a secretary at Obsidian Middle School in Redmond from 2003 to 2006 and before that was a bookkeeper for a drywall business in Clackamas for six years in the early to mid-1990s while also being a stay-at-home mom. Erin earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Portland State University in 1982. She lives in Redmond with her husband of 26 years, Stephen, and their 17-year-old daughter Rachael. She attends City Center Foursquare in Redmond.


hudec-justin.jpgJustin Hudec joins admissions as an undergraduate admissions counselor this fall. He has worked the past two summers as an on-site director of the Day Camp program at Tilikum Center for Retreats and Outdoor Ministries. He also worked as an office intern in the university’s admissions office from 2004 to 2006. Justin earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from George Fox in 2007. He lives in Aloha and attends St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Beaverton.


lybarger-barbara.jpgBarbara Lybarger joined the Portland Center as an administrative assistant and receptionist in July. She worked previously as an administrative assistant for Coast Pavement Services of Tigard from 2005 to 2007. Before that, she spent a year as an administrative assistant for C.S. Lewis Academy High School in Newberg. She lives in Tualatin with her husband Jeff and 19-year-old twin sons Daniel and Scott. The family attends Living Hope Church in Portland.


covington-david.jpgThe Boise Center welcomed David Covington as a recruiter in enrollment services in July. He arrives from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, where he was director of enrollment services and financial aid the past two years. His previous experience includes working as a sales and service trainer for a uniform and apparel company for one year in Sacramento, Calif. Before that, David spent four years as an outside sales rep and operations supervisor for an industrial service/supply company. David earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Prairie Bible College in 2006 and is currently completing an MBA with Corban College and Graduate School. He and wife Kelly live in Caldwell, Idaho, and have two children, Ashlee and Nate.


chastain-tammi.jpgTammi Chastain joined Plant Services as a custodian in July. For the past four years she was a manager at Newberg Hardware, and before that she worked in production for A-dec in Newberg for four years. A native of California, Tammi attended school in San Jose, Calif., before moving to Oregon. She lives in McMinnville.


angie-clarkson.jpgAngie Clarkson began work as an administrative assistant in the Murdock Learning Resource Center in July. She recently moved to the area from Pendleton, where she was an academic secretary for science, math, computer science, and athletics at Blue Mountain Community College since 2004. Before that, she was an office specialist for the Oregon Youth Authority, the state’s juvenile justice system, for two years. Angie attended George Fox in the late 1980s and later worked in Newberg at the Springbrook Clinic and Precision Helicopters Inc. She lives in Newberg with husband Chuck and has three children – Joel (19), Amanda (12), and Caleb (11).


A farewell reception for Carol Green (SPS) is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in the main lobby of the Portland Center. Carol is leaving to serve as vice president for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. She had been dean of the School of Professional Studies since 2005.

Heidi Thomason (Student Financial Services) left George Fox in late July. She will now be in ministry full time with her church.

Sandy Cornell (Financial Affairs) left the university on July 23.

Richard (Dick) Sartwell has retired as director of the Friends Center. A new director will be announced soon.

Kris Nelson (Library) left George Fox on July 7. She will be teaching at a school in Indonesia.

John Nelson left his position with Mail Services on July 23.
