Bruin Bookstore hosts Family Weekend sale Friday and Saturday

The Bruin Bookstore will be open this Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Family Weekend. Come check out the sale on this year’s new product: Sweatpants, regularly priced at $19.99 each, will be two for $30, and select hoodies, normally $29.99, will be two for $40.

All other imprinted clothing and gifts will be 20 percent off! The Family Weekend sale will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Panelists discuss Lausanne conference at forum Tuesday night

The university’s Center for Global Studies and Center for Peace and Justice are hosting a panel Tuesday, Nov. 2, related to the panelists’ participation at the Lausanne Movement’s Third Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa, in October. Chapel credit is available for those students who attend.

Panel members include President Robin Baker, Sarita Gallagher (Religious Studies) and the university’s missional-practitioner-in-residence, David Chronic.

Harvard Divinity School rep recruiting students Wednesday

Jennifer Hollis, an admissions rep from Harvard Divinity School, will host an information session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27. She is seeking to recruit George Fox students (graduate and undergraduate) who wish to further their education in preparation for service and leadership. All are welcome.

Online textbook annex closed

The Bruin Bookstore Textbook Annex is in the process of returning all overstock textbooks to publishers in anticipation of the Nov. 1 transition. All online textbook ordering has been disabled for all programs. The textbook annex will be closed during this process.

Tickets now available for fall theatre production, ‘Ion’

Tickets are now available for the university’s fall theatre production, Euripides’ Ion. The show is a world premiere of Paul D. Streufert’s translation of the Greek tragedy.

Show dates are Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 4-6, and the following Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 11-14, in Wood-Mar Auditorium. Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. each night with the exception of the Sunday, Nov. 14 show, scheduled as a 2 p.m. matinee.

All George Fox University employees receive one complimentary ticket. Students will be admitted free on both Thursdays. Your complimentary ticket is only available at the Box Office in the Bruin Bookstore. Additional tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for alumni and seniors, and $6 for students and children under 12. The week will include a “Getting Into Graduate School” presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, in Stevens 109; a George Fox graduate schools fair from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the Hoover lobby; packets of information for students; and a discussion blog on Career Services’ website.

Registration for the Oct. 20 presentation is available on Bruin Careers and is limited to the first 40 people.

Interested in living or working overseas, but not sure how to do it? The Big Guide can help. The Office of Career Services has a subscription to this great interactive website that allows you to access its abundant resources for free.

Visit careers.georgefox.edu and find the link under “News and Updates” to activate your free account. Once registered, you can network with others interested in living or working abroad, both inside and outside of George Fox, and can access numerous videos and text resources to help you prepare for your upcoming adventure.

University’s Behavioral Health Clinic offers free parenting class

The George Fox Behavioral Health Clinic is offering a free eight-week parenting class for parents of ages 1-18. Build better relationships with your kids and get better behavior, too! Snacks provided. Sorry, no childcare is provided.

Sessions last from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each Monday from Monday, Oct. 11, through Monday, Nov. 29. Classes meet in the new Behavioral Health Clinic building next to the Villa Academic Complex on Villa Road in Newberg.

Gmail has announced the option of turning off the conversation view in your e-mail. Tired of related e-mails being “stacked” into one message? Simply click on “Settings” in the upper-right corner, then the “General” tab. The sixth option on the list will turn off conversations and let every e-mail you receive remain independent in your in-box.
