Don’t forget to register for Dirk Barram’s presentation, “The Leader in All of Us; High Calling, High Risk,” scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Portland Center. There is no cost to attend, and coffee and tea will be provided.
All of us have leadership qualities within us. What do they look like? How are they manifested in our actions? Why might this fact be both important, yet carry risk? Why is it seemingly undervalued? These and other questions will be discussed at the session, the latest College of Business Fall Speaker Series Event.
Dirk, dean of the College of Business, is in his 27th year at George Fox. He worked at Hewlett–Packard in Palo Alto, Calif., as a division training and development manager prior to coming to the university. Since coming to George Fox, he has served in a number of administrative capacities, including vice president for academic affairs (1992-1998) and undergraduate chair of the Department of Business and Economics (2002-2010).
To R.S.V.P. or to learn more, go to this page. Please sign up by Friday, Sept. 27. More information is also available by contacting Darla Norgren at dnorgren@georgefox.edu.

If you still need any textbooks, now is the time to purchase them. Beginning next week, we will be returning unsold books to publishers.
To see if we have a book you need, go to gfubookstore.com and search by course schedule. A designation of “In Store” (under the pricing) means we have copies here at the Textbook Annex. Come on over (or order online) and we’ll be glad to help you.
Don’t wait until reading is assigned to purchase your books or you may find yourself without one when you need it.

If you’ve visited the George Fox website yesterday, you may have noticed things have changed. While most of the content of the site has stayed the same, the new design will both freshen up the look and feel of the site, and introduce some key new features:
- Responsive Design – Instead of a mobile-specific website, the new site uses a framework that allows content to be reformatted for multiple devices. That means that one webpage can work for both desktop, tablet and mobile phone visitors.
- School Colors – The site now uses Navy Blue and Old Gold more, to better reinforce university branding.
- Font Usage – We have better font usage throughout the site, which makes text-heavy pages look cleaner, and gives a more professional presentation.
- More Flexible Template – The new design allows for much more power in our designers hands, meaning as we redesign pages in the future, we’ll be able to do more with less effort.
We’d love to have feedback from the university community about the new design. As we move forward with more designs in the future, your input will be critical into how we move forward.
Please fill out our web survey form and let us know what you think. Or, if you would prefer to interact directly with us, e-mail webmaster@georgefox.edu.
Thanks,
The Web Development Team
