The Oregon Historical Society is featuring a special anniversary exhibit titled, “Vision, Mission, Values: 125 Years of George Fox University.” As the oldest Christian institution in Oregon, we have a lot of history to share!

The exhibit highlights key individuals who shaped our story, special places and unique artifacts from campus life over the past 125 years. It is open now and runs through Feb. 5.

The Oregon Historical Society is located at 1200 S.W. Park Ave., in Portland. More information is available at this link.

Carmen Imes, adjunct professor of biblical studies, will conduct a “Turning of the Page” session today (Thursday) on The Saint John’s Bible. Come and “see the Word” as the biblical message comes to life in this historic illuminated Bible.

The session begins at 1 p.m. in the MLRC.

Students entitled to free ticket to Friday’s Christmas Concert

Students are invited to support their peers at this year’s Christmas Concert, scheduled Dec. 9-11 in Bauman Auditorium. Students who attend Friday night’s 7:30 p.m. performance are entitled to one free ticket.

You can select your free concert ticket online at this link. Be sure to select “GFU Student” in the drop-down menu if attending Friday’s concert. If you wish to purchase additional tickets or elect to attend one of the other performances, you may buy tickets at the same link.

University hosts midyear commencement ceremony Dec. 17

Nearly 250 students will receive undergraduate and graduate diplomas at the university’s midyear commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Wheeler Sports Center. Seating begins at 10 a.m., and the ceremony will start at 11 a.m.

Tickets are not required; however, seating is limited to 10 guests per graduate. At 10:45 a.m., a live broadcast of the ceremony will be available to watch at this link.

Alumna Juli Morse, a mechanical engineer, entrepreneur and technology commercialization enthusiast, will serve as commencement speaker. Morse has 16 years experience working in the high-tech and consumer goods industries, including with Hewlett-Packard, The Clorox Company and several startups. She is also the founder of River Parkway Labs, a technology commercialization and product-marketing consultancy in Portland. The title of her address is “A World Waiting to Be Known.”
