On the first Friday of every month, Chess Club will be held at the Newberg Public Library from 4 to 6 p.m. We will not have Chess Club on Tuesday at the regular time and place on the first week of the month.
All other weeks, Chess Club will be held at the normal time and place (Tuesdays in Murdock Library, Room 209, from 7 to 9 p.m.)

George Fox’s counseling services are here to meet all of your mental health needs, and are still free for Newberg campus students and conveniently located right here on campus. Counseling for non-Newberg-based students is available for $30 per session.

UREC is adding a second yoga class to the GroupX schedule at 5 p.m. on Thursdays! This class will be 50 minutes and doesn’t require you to bring anything besides yourself! Sign up at this link.

You’re invited to join us for an off-campus retreat during mid-semester break from Thursday, Oct. 12, through Saturday, Oct. 14.
These retreats are thoughtfully designed for a small group of 10 to 12 students and will take place off campus. During the retreat, participants can expect to enter into a slower pace to engage in various spiritual practices that refresh their mind, body and spirit.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to create connections with fellow students and staff, fostering a sense of community and support.
You must fill out an application to express interest in attending. You will receive a confirmation email to let you know you’ve been selected to attend, and then you will secure your spot with $20. The $20 covers food, lodging and transportation. The last day to sign up is Saturday, Sept. 30.

George Fox community, we are aware that parking on the east side of campus (near Villa Road) is challenging, and that it may seem like the best option to park across the street, rather than walk from a farther distance.
Please be aware that our neighbors are tired of having driveways and mailboxes blocked as well as difficulty seeing clear enough to pull out onto Villa Road. The Newberg-Dundee Police Department is patrolling, and if you are found parked illegally you may receive a fine of $115.
Please be respectful of our neighbors when parking. Morse lot, near the softball field, is an alternate lot you may park at. Thank you for your understanding.
All are welcome to join in with The Lewis and Tolkien Society this evening (Monday), for reading, fellowship, tea, and cookies! We will gather in the Pennington House conference room from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The access gate to the football field by Wheeler will also be locked for the day. Please follow the detour signs and enter and exit through the east lower entrance of Wheeler.

We’ll be exploring the incredible Tunnel Falls trail in the Columbia River Gorge overnight from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1. It is a lovely, moderate backpacking trip that some consider one of the prettiest in Oregon. The Center for Study Abroad is hosting a study abroad fair on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Canyon Commons. Many of our off-campus programs will have representatives present, so come by to get information about different programs and countries and their requirements.
We will also be passing out information about the Center for Study Abroad application requirements and due dates, and there will be a prize drawing of $500 toward a study abroad program of your choice for those who attend and participate.
