Consider joining a indoor cycling class in partnership with the Sources of Strength Club! The class will be held in Hadlock’s group fitness studio on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Sources of Strength is a club and upstream suicide prevention program that aims to help people find strength through various resources, including physical health and healthy activities. This special indoor cycling class is not only focused on the physical benefits of exercise, but is also a great opportunity to practice mindfulness and gratitude. Have fun exercising in an environment open to everyone; no previous experience is required.

Note: If you choose to participate, there will be mandatory gratitude practices before and after the ride, and an optional photo-op (which you may decline). Prepare to come to class a couple of minutes early in order to set up your bike.

Mark your calendar for the Chess Club’s fall tournament and Halloween party! There will be Halloween treats provided and a raffle at the end. You can enter the raffle for a chance to win fun prizes by playing in the tournament.

Participants in this study will perform squat jumps, push-ups, and sit-ups after taking a dosage of a pre-workout. If you are interested, please sign up at this link.

Three poets from the Newberg area will read poetry and sign books at Chapters Books at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, as part of the bookstore’s “First Friday” open house.
All three have long connections with Newberg and George Fox University.
Ed Higgins is a George Fox Emeritus Professor of Writing and Literature. He has published widely both poetry and flash fiction, including the poetry collection Near Truth Only (2022), published by Fernwood Press. He is assistant editor of the online journal Brilliant Flash Fiction.
William Jolliff recently retired as professor of English at George Fox. His poetry collections include Twisted Shapes of Light (2015) and At Rest in My Father’s House (2023). He has also published works of non-fiction and criticism.
Nancy Thomas’ poetry publications include The Secret Colors of God and Close to the Ground. She is poetry editor for Friends Journal and has a poetry collection forthcoming from Fernwood Press.
All three authors will read and sign books as part of the event.

Our hours are 1 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Fridays.

Posters and displays are generally intended to advertise a particular event or raise awareness about the activities of an officially recognized campus club or organization.
Please pay special attention to the following policies:
- Campus displays must be submitted for approval at least two weeks before the display is to be posted.
- Campus displays and posters are not considered “approved” until the final notification is received and display items have received a stamp from the Office of Student Life.
- Clubs and student activity teams must have their posters and displays approved by Kara Holcombe.
- You must take down your fliers when your event is over.
- Post only on bulletin boards, posting kiosks, or sandwich boards. Do not post on walls, windows, or doors. (Exception: Event location signs may be placed on building entrance doors on the day of the event and then removed at the conclusion of the event.)

The Wheeler Gym will be transformed into the pep rally of your dreams this Friday, Oct. 20, for “Midnight Madness”! Come check out this crazy tradition and compete to win some amazing SWAG! The first 100 attendees will get a free hat!
We will have class competitions to win points toward the Bruin Brawl, hype up the basketball teams, and end the night with a giant balloon drop! It all begins at 9:30 p.m. with snacks and activities, with the main event kicking off at 10 p.m. in Wheeler.

Participate in a research study exploring spiritual formation and social connection. The study involves 30 minutes of virtual attendance once a week for six weeks, between Nov. 6 and Dec. 11. Participants will elect to meet in pairs or individually to review a practice inspired by “Lectio Divina.”
Undergraduate students will receive five elective chapel credits for participating.
