Maker Hub’s ‘Tool Tip Friday’: Spot Welder

Thursday, February 9th, 2023

The Maker Hub has many welding-related machines, including the Miller Spot Welder. Resistance spot welding is a process in which contacting metal surface points are joined by the heat obtained from resistance to electric current.

The Miller Spot Welder is a lightweight unit that is portable, easy to operate, and excellent for welding mild, galvanized or stainless sheet materials. Check out this video to see how it works! For more information, check out the Maker Hub’s Wiki Page.

The Maker Hub exists as a resource and creative outlet for the entire George Fox community (yes, including non-engineers!). We are looking for student aces. A student ace is simply an expert on a piece of equipment who helps train other students on the usage of that equipment and gains extra privileges within the Maker Hub.

Please email makerhub@georgefox.edu if you would like to get connected or have any questions.
