All veterans are welcome to attend our coffee meetup! Our young vet attendees are primarily made up of George Fox students. We also have several veterans who served in World War ll, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf Wars, and all the skirmishes in between.
We meet every Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Nut Tree Ranch Community Building at 2902 East 2nd St., in Newberg.
This is a place where all veterans are understood. It is a place of peace and a time to share stories. The coffee is generously donated by Caravan Coffee. Please come for a time of sharing a cup of bliss and to rub shoulders with your brothers and sisters.
We have seen a really great core of George Fox veterans be able to feel at home and get involved in other veteran community events each week. Please join us!
This event is sponsored by the Vet2Vet Center in partnership with the George Fox Veterans Club. If you are a son or daughter of a veteran or have relatives in your family you could qualify for scholarships.
Reach out to Stauros Gibson at sgibson21@georgefox.edu for more info.

Everyday essentials like grocery bags, food and drink wrappers, Ziplock bags, and packaging add up to a lot of plastic discarded each day! While a small portion of this ends up recycled, most of it winds up in the landfill where it will stay for hundreds of years and never completely decompose.
In the spirit of “reduce, reuse, recycle,” the Arts & Crafts Club and Stewards of Sustainability Club are hosting an upcycling event where we will have a few crafts to create art out of old materials! We will gather from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, March 9, in Brougher Hall.
Projects will include:
- Transforming old plastic packaging into functional wallets, pencil pouches, and jewelry
- Turning plastic grocery bags into yarn for knitting and crocheting
- Using wood scraps to build a bug hotel for the Stewards of Sustainability Club’s garden
All are welcome to join! If you are interested in this event, please sign up here and start collecting (clean) plastic trash to bring!
Feel free to reach out to Lilly McAfee at lmcafee19@georgefox.edu if you have any questions.

The living area with the most hours logged by Sunday, March 31, will win a $500 prize end-of-the-year party, as well as five (Bauman) chapel credits for every volunteering participant.
Since this challenge began on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the race to get to the highest average of community service hours has grown tighter.
Here is the current challenge leaderboard:
- First place – HMS & the Suites: 5.44 hours of service per volunteer
- Second place – Penn & Newlin Halls: 4.50 hours/volunteer
- Third place – Le Shana & Gulley: 4.00 hours/volunteer
- Fourth place – Houses & Apts: 3.90 hours/volunteer
- Fifth place – Brandt & Edwards: 3.79 hours/volunteer
- Sixth place – Commuters: 3.28 hours/volunteer
It’s really anybody’s game at this point!
So, make sure to carve out time in your schedule to check out volunteer service opportunities on the Helper Helper app, check in, show up, and log those hours. If you know of more volunteer opportunities that should be added to Helper Helper to promote to our campus, please don’t hesitate to let us know at spirituallife@georgefox.edu.
We truly hope this Spring Faith Into Action Challenge helps you all encounter Christ in unexpected and deeper ways through serving others in the surrounding community!

Please join us for our Spring Diversity Dialogue with Jason Fileta on Wednesday, March 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Hoover 103.
We will learn more about how we live in a time when diversity-focused courses, curricula, and programs are being eliminated from educational institutions and corporations. Many of those that remain are entirely detached from a broader context of racial justice.
How should followers of Christ approach this moment and these issues? This presentation will look to Scripture for a Kingdom approach to diversity and justice.
