Chapel requirement is decreased with modified calendar

Thursday, March 12th, 2020

As the university has modified the spring semester calendar, we will have three fewer weeks together for worship as a community. In light of this, we are decreasing your chapel requirement to reflect the number of weeks that we are together.

Here are some other details pertaining to chapel:

  • By Monday, you will notice on your MyGeorgeFox account a decrease of three chapel credits. If the university modifies the April 10 return date, we will modify the chapel expectation accordingly.
  • As was announced last fall, students who began this academic year with junior standing will have the fall of their senior year to complete their chapel credit.
  • All students will be eligible for chapel podcasts. Details about the podcast reflections, new offerings, and other experiences will be available on our George Fox chapel website by Monday morning. We will advertise these in the Daily Bruin and on Instagram @gfuspil.
  • For students who remain on campus, within guidelines provided by the administration, we may offer other small-venue worship opportunities, which we will inform you about as plans are finalized.

As we are apart from one another, our hope is that you will experience the lovingkindness of the Living God. Our pastoral team will miss your presence around campus and will be praying for you.

If we can offer you support or encouragement of any kind, our office will remain open and we will be available for appointments or phone conversations.

Peace be with you,
The University Pastors
