Remote academic support available through ARC

Sunday, March 29th, 2020

Need help with a writing assignment? Would you like to set up an academic coaching meeting for support, a listening ear, and strategies for navigating the remaining weeks of the semester? Good news: The ARC is going remote!

Consultants at the ARC are available for remote writing and academic coaching consultations. You can make an appointment at arcschedule.georgefox.edu or email the_arc@georgefox.edu for help scheduling appointments. On the day of your appointment, an ARC consultant will email you with instructions and a link to join a virtual Zoom meeting that will occur at your scheduled appointment time.

If you are interested in subject specific support, Open Study Table tutors are available. Their areas of expertise include: biology, anatomy and physiology, general chemistry, Bible, theology, mechanical engineering, business, communication and Spanish.

Contact Julia James (jjames@georgefox.edu) to be connected with an OST tutor!

Friendsview in need of Personal Protective Equipment

Thursday, March 26th, 2020

There is a shortage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for health care workers who are caring for the most vulnerable during this COVID-19 pandemic. Many medical facilities and organizations simply have little to no supplies.

At Friendsview, it is reported that by the end of this week the staff will not have disposable PPE and will need to move to contingent plans of using reusable options.

They are in need of the following items:

  • Safety goggles
  • Sunglasses with side coverage
  • Face shields
  • Bandanas
  • Cloth gowns
  • Lab coats
  • Scrub jackets
  • Scrubs
  • Disposable rain gear (ponchos)
  • Sleeve covers
  • Coveralls
  • Oversized long-sleeved shirts that can be laundered and re-used
  • Aprons
  • Gloves and masks

If you are able to help in any way, all donations can be dropped off in the front lobby at Friendsview, marked “Attention: Deb Sabin.”

Thanks for your consideration.
