Join us today for coffee and donuts at financial aid’s ‘Help Me Hangout’

Wednesday, November 17th, 2021

We get it: You have a lot going on at the moment. The Thanksgiving holiday is right around the corner, followed by finals and the end of the semester. But alas, it is also time to start thinking about your financial aid for next year (or even next semester).

The good news is, we want to help! The financial aid office is offering a “Help Me Hangout” in Canyon Commons 101 from 8:30 a.m. to noon today (Thursday). We will have coffee, donut holes from Sesame Donuts, and cookies for anyone who stops by.

Whether you have a quick question about financial aid, need help with your FAFSA, or are looking for scholarship applications, we want to see you. You can pop in for a quick minute as you’re passing through, or you can sit with us and work while you wait between classes.

Grab a roommate or friend, your laptop, and come see us so you can get your financial aid taken care of for next year and enjoy your upcoming break!

Important reminder from student life office about social media, civility, bias and harassment

Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

We want to remind all of us about the expectations of living in a Christ-centered community that honors kindness, grace, and civility as important values. We believe that all people are of great worth and value in the eyes of God and seek to increasingly become a campus characterized by loving support of one another.

Cultural humility means that we seek to understand and appreciate others, also created in the image of God, who are different from ourselves. Language and/or behavior that relies on stereotypes or is demeaning toward individuals or groups is absolutely unacceptable for George Fox students and employees, whether it occurs in person, through social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) or anonymously.

Violations of these expectations are taken very seriously by the university, especially when directed at another because of their race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, religion, or disabilities. We want to remind everyone that George Fox has harassment, discrimination, and bias-related incident policies that can be viewed here.

Any incidents of harassment, discrimination or bias should be reported immediately to the student life office. We would also encourage community members to hold one another accountable for what we say and do in this important area.

May God enable each of us to be more and more like Jesus in the way we treat one another!

Familiarize yourself with face-covering policy on all campuses

Monday, November 15th, 2021

Faculty, staff, students, vendors and visitors across all campus locations must use face coverings as required by state guidelines. You can read the full face-covering policy here.

Masks, face coverings, or face shields are currently required for:

  • All indoor public campus spaces (e.g., classrooms, offices, hallways, meeting rooms, etc.) unless the individual is alone in an individual private workspace defined by OHA as an indoor space within a public or private workplace used for work by one individual at a time. It must be enclosed on all sides with walls from floor to ceiling and with a closed door. Note: Face coverings are required in all cubicle and open workspaces.
  • In the Bruin Den, Canyon Commons or Bridge Cafe you may remove your face covering ONLY if you are actively eating.

The university has worked hard to follow CDC and OHA guidance through the pandemic, but we recognize there will be a variety of personal perspectives on how our campus should transition back to pre-pandemic life. We ask that, as members of a Christ-centered community, we treat one another with kindness and grace, particularly when our views differ from one another.

Be well and stay safe!

Questions? Contact the COT (cot@georgefox.edu) or HR (hr@georgefox.edu).
