Announcement about Family Weekend parking

Tuesday, October 19th, 2021

Due to the upcoming Family Weekend events and festivities, we are asking that you do not leave your vehicles parked in the Bauman/Duke parking lot after Friday’s concert. The lot will be closed Friday night and any cars found in the first two rows abandoned Saturday morning will be towed if we can not reach the owner.

Please help us to help you and park in other lots if you are leaving for trips, retreats, or other activities this weekend.

Thank you very much,
Campus Public Safety

Climbing wall closes Thursday evening through Sunday

Tuesday, October 19th, 2021

The Hadlock Student Center climbing wall will be closed from Thursday, Oct. 21, at 4 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25.

The closure is required so University Recreation staff can prepare for the upcoming “Rocktoberfest” climbing competition set for Friday, Oct. 29, from 3 to 10 p.m. If you’re interested in learning more about this competition and/or competing, please go here.

The competition is not exclusive to elite athletes or advanced climbers; it’s for everyone! In fact, the vast majority of climbers who register have been climbing for fewer than two years. It’s a fun community event that we have once a semester to connect people and celebrate the joy of climbing.

If you have questions about this closure or “Rocktoberfest,” please email Austin Shirazi at ashirazi17@georgefox.edu.

Join us for ‘Building Resilience’ session on Friday

Monday, October 18th, 2021

Failure is part of life, but it isn’t the end of the story. We all fail in various ways, whether earning a disappointing grade, missing a due date, having a relationship break up (or break down), or any of 100 other failings.

You, your classmates, professors, coaches – even President Baker – have all failed many times; it’s part of life. But the only true failure is ending the story before it’s over.

Join us this Friday, Oct. 22, from 11 to 11:50 a.m. in Bauman Auditorium for “We All Fall Down: Building Resilience.” This session will offer tips for getting back up and advancing toward your goals.

Contact Rick Muthiah (rmuthiah@georgefox.edu) with any questions.
