Warm weather safety tips from Campus Public Safety

Monday, April 19th, 2021

Campus Public Safety would like to offer the following safety tips as we are enjoying warmer weather:

  • Be sure to secure your windows!
    • If you want to sleep with open windows, buy some wooden dowels and cut them three inches shorter than the width of your window track.
    • Placing the dowel in your window track locks the window so that nobody can enter from the outside while still allowing cooler evening air to come into your room.
  • Don’t prop exterior doors open, and be sure to close any exterior doors that you do find propped open.
  • Do not allow anyone to enter your residence who isn’t accompanied by another resident.
  • Walk in pairs at night, or call Campus Public Safety for an escort back to your residence.
  • If you see somebody who doesn’t seem to belong on campus, contact Campus Public Safety immediately. Don’t wait!
    • Our officers will respond immediately and will have a better chance of making contact with the individual if you call right away.

Questions? Call Campus Public Safety (503-554-2090) or email Elrike Shaw (eshaw@georgefox.edu).

Got game? University launches esports program this fall

Sunday, April 18th, 2021

Have you got game? Beginning this fall, you’ll get a chance to prove it with the university’s launch of an esports program!

That’s right: We’ll be competing against other colleges and universities nationwide as a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports, the official governing body of collegiate esports. A coach will be named soon, as will the games we will be playing.

George Fox will be the only school in the Northwest Conference with an esports program, and we’ll be one of just a handful of universities to offer it in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll field both intramural and intercollegiate programs, and both men and women are invited to compete.

Want to learn more? Check out georgefox.gg. We’re counting on you for a successful launch!
