Did you know that students have to complete the FAFSA every year to be considered for federal and state aid? Our office is busy preparing financial aid packages for next year, and we want to make sure the aid packages are as complete as possible.

To put yourself in the best position for next year, be sure to go to fafsa.gov and submit your 2022-23 FAFSA by Feb. 1.

Join Aaron Barnhart for his first faculty concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, in Bauman Auditorium. He’ll be playing original songs from the past decade of his career as a singer/songwriter.

Attention all sword fighting enthusiasts! The Fencing Club will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the third basketball court in Hadlock.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn sword fighting, now’s your chance! All people are welcome to participate. No prior experience or equipment is necessary, but we recommend wearing athletic clothes and bringing a water bottle.

If you do your laundry on campus, you are using a washing machine or clothes dryer that is provided by Coin Meter.

For optimal machine performance (resulting in clean clothes), Coin Meter requests that you:

• Use the proper amount of soap. Using too much soap will cause the washing machine to overflow with suds and flood onto the floor, creating an additional hazard. Excessive soap will not rinse effectively from the clothes, so this may cause discomfort when wearing the clothes.
• Load clothes properly. Fill the washing machine tub no more than halfway with clothes (less for heavy items). Do not overfill the tub or stuff clothes into the washing machine. Proper loading will result in a complete washing cycle, providing thorough agitation/cleaning, rinsing, and an efficient spin to remove excess water. Clothes that have been correctly spun will dry more quickly in the dryer.

Following these simple guidelines will help you have a successful experience resulting in properly cleaned clothes. Thank you!

University Recreation (UREC) is offering outdoor recreation trips this winter for George Fox students. Trips include snowshoeing, outdoor rock climbing, hiking, ice skating, whitewater rafting, biking and more!

A representative from Veritas was scheduled to be on campus today to discuss study abroad opportunities, but that meeting has been canceled.

Veritas program locations include Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, France, New Zealand, Peru, Rome, Spain and others. We’ll let you know when the meeting has been rescheduled.

Did you know the IDEA Center offers assistance to students with their resumes, LinkedIn profiles and cover letters? These three items are very important in preparation for applying to jobs and internships.

You can make an appointment on Handshake with Wade Witherspoon, the employee relations manager, or Karis Lee, the career coach intern, to get assistance.

Witherspoon is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. He can also meet at other times based on a student’s request (you can email him at wwitherspoon@georgefox.edu).

Need help writing a paper, staying on top of your assignments, or preparing for tests? Come to the Academic Resource Center (ARC), where you will find students helping students. Through one-on-one and group consultations, trained peer consultants can help you become a better reader, writer and learner.
