The Comic Book Club is having our DC Night tomorrow (Friday) at 7 p.m. in Hoover 207. Snacks and entertainment will be provided!

Comic Book Club is a great way to unwind from a busy week and find other pop culture fans. Don’t worry if you know nothing about comics. Members vary in a variety of knowledge and commitment to different fandoms. We hope to see you there!

Join us for RESONATE 2023: Why Christianity Resonates with Humanity on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18! Great minds from around the country will join us for this two-day event in Canyon Commons on our Newberg campus.

Our Friday evening concert features Jon Guerra and his devotional music. You’ll get to hear from Dominic Done, our emcee, and he will introduce Saturday’s speakers.

On Saturday, you’ll get to listen to talks, be a part of facilitated discussions, have a chance to hear from and visit with sponsoring ministries, and participate in a Q&A with the speakers at the end of the day.

Are you in the process of discerning your vocation? The Office for Spiritual Life and the School of Theology are partnering with the Beacon Hill Friends House Vocational Discernment Project to offer a workshop for students to help them discover their vocation.

The workshop will be grounded in Quaker practices of discernment, but is open to all. We will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) in Hoover 211.

Kim is a seasoned public relations professional and international communications educator who brings a global perspective developed through his experiences in Hong Kong, Korea, China, the Philippines, Australia and the United States.

Join us as we partner with the university’s Black Student Union to kick off Black History Month with a Trivia Night at 7 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 3, in Canyon Commons. The first-place prize is five tickets to the Portland Trailblazer’s Black History Month kick-off game.

The weekly food delivery for the Bruin Community Pantry takes place every Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Please consider volunteering if you are available during this time and are looking for community service opportunities.

Student-athletes can sign up using the Helper Helper app. Volunteers help to unload the truck and bring the boxes into the food bank. Then, the staff can restock the shelves.

If you are calling the Oregon DOJ Bias Incident Hotline after hours, please leave a message, including a phone number where you can be reached, in order to receive a follow-up call from a DOJ representative. (The hotline accepts all relay calls.)

What happens when I call the Bias Response Hotline or make a report online?

The DOJ Bias Response Hotline is here to help you understand your options, make choices about next steps, and receive support in the aftermath of experiencing or witnessing bias.

If you call the Bias Response Hotline, you are connecting with trauma-informed hotline advocates who are trained in crisis intervention and can provide bias response advocacy, including assistance in reporting a bias crime to law enforcement.

Such crimes are not tolerated in the George Fox community. These actions may also violate local, state and federal law. Designated university personnel investigate all complaints or allegations of harassment promptly.

If you believe that you have witnessed or been subjected to harassment, discrimination, bias-related incidents and/or hate crimes, we encourage you to immediately report the incident to the dean of student belonging and equity/Title IX coordinator for students at katrinaj@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2318, or student life personnel.

Join the Stewards of Sustainability Club on a tour of our campus’s coffee supplier, Caravan Coffee (750 E. 9th St., in Newberg). Sign-ups for the tour close tomorrow (Wednesday) so sign up ASAP here. Both students and employees are invited to join!

We will see their roasting warehouse and coffee shop, taste some coffee, and learn about their sustainable practices. The event is Thursday, Feb. 9, and the remaining time slot is from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Join UREC for a snow camping trip in the mountains this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4-5)!

We will be camping up on the Santiam Pass with Lifelines, the outdoor ministry of Cru. As part of this, you’ll learn how to snowshoe, build a snow shelter, and cook in the backcountry. Any students who attend also get one spiritual life/chapel credit for participating. Find more info and register here.
