Join an Earth Day serve trip

Show your appreciation of the earth this Earth Day (April 22) and volunteer with us at a local farm, which was established by professor Randy Woodley. The farm, named Eloheh, focuses on sustainable and regenerative farming techniques following Native American wisdom. (Carpooling is available for those who want a ride.)

DPT students in need of participants for research study

George Fox Doctor of Physical Therapy research students are searching for participants for a research project studying resiliency and drive during exercise. Ideal candidates fit these specifics:

  • Between the ages of 60 and 75 years old
  • Do not have a condition preventing them from exercise
  • Have not had a knee replacement
  • Have a desire to progress science

Want to try rock climbing outside for the first time? Join a trip to Broughton Bluff this Saturday, April 15, with University Recreation!

All students are invited to participate, regardless of climbing background or ability. You’ll be guided by professionally certified rock-climbing instructors who are students at George Fox. What’s more is that you don’t need any rock-climbing equipment; we’ve got that covered! And we’ll even provide transportation and lunch! Scholarships are also available for students in need.

Fund PT’s service trip to Uganda by getting a massage

Do you have stress, aches, pains, or just want to feel relaxed? Come by to get a massage from a doctor of physical therapy student!

Our mission is to improve our community’s health by offering discounted massages to students and employees ($20) and community members ($25). We are offering a 25-minute massage on Friday, April 21, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Medical Sciences Building (448 Werth Blvd., in Newberg). Your contribution will help fund our medical service trip to Uganda in May.

Donations are also welcome; there will be a tip jar on site! Register for a massage using this Google Form.

It’s Fox vs. the firefighters on the football field this Saturday

This Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m., come out to the football field and enjoy a friendly flag football game between the George Fox football team and the Dundee Volunteer Fire Department at Stoffer Family Stadium.

The objective of this event is to raise awareness and donations for the Dundee Volunteer Firefighters as they work relentlessly to save lives and help those in need without payment.

Hear some ‘Real Talk’ this Monday with Act Six

Join us for “Real Talk,” an event created for George Fox students by the Act Six Cadre 16, this Monday, April 17, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Canyon Commons 101.

Our goal is to bring influential speakers from our community to share their experiences as a George Fox student. We will be real and talk about the uncomfortable conversations and barriers as a young adult.

Come learn about the upbringing and the obstacles that Khadija Bruce went through. She is an elementary school teacher for Portland Public Schools and plans to climb the education ladder in order to restructure our educational system. Her goal is for quality education to be equitable for anyone.

Survey: Winter Workshop Weekend

Hello! We are a group in the WRIT 310: Professional Writing class and would appreciate if you would fill out our survey regarding a hypothetical winter fair for intergenerational connectivity. The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback from our valued community.

The fair would take place in the wintertime, ideally February, and would be a culmination of intergenerational activities such as letter-writing, cupcake decorating, and other activities to appeal to all generations.

The survey will take fewer than five minutes to complete. We assure you that all responses will be kept strictly confidential and used only for research purposes. Your feedback is very important to us and will help us better understand the needs and preferences of the community.

Support our film students by attending the Fox Film Festival

Come join us for a night of friends, fun and films. There are two nights of the festival, and the same films will be shown at each. On Saturday, April 22, we’ll host an awards ceremony following the viewings.

Our cinematic arts students have been hard at work all year creating short films through a variety of courses. There are several categories the films fall under, including Live Action Film, Animated Film, Fresh Film (from first-year students), Narrative, and Documentary/Non-Fiction.

‘Discerning Vocation’ workshop open to all students this Saturday

This Saturday, April 15, professor Paul Anderson will be leading a workshop on “Discerning Vocation: Embracing Life’s Purpose” as a way for students to reflect on direction and meaning in life.

Lunch and cinnamon rolls will be provided, and students will be awarded a $50 stipend by ISI in support of the time and energy devoted to this workshop. Bring your kids to Family Game Night this Friday

Do you and your family live in Newberg and want to get more connected with the community? Have we got the event for you!

A group of George Fox students is hosting a Family Game Night at Northwest Christian Church this Friday, April 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. for local families with children. We want to inspire community unity with an opportunity for fun and free food, so games and pizza will be provided. 

Our mission is to give local families an affordable opportunity to forge new connections between each other at an event sponsored by, partnered with, and provided by the donations of local businesses in the hopes of fostering a culture of connection and lasting bonds between families.
