Make our Friday @ Fox guests feel welcome tomorrow

Wednesday, November 9th, 2022

Tomorrow marks another Friday @ Fox visit day. Because of Veterans Day, we expect around 100 guests on campus.

Prospective students will participate in a campus tour, visit classes, eat lunch on campus, and tour academic departments of interest. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is asking students and employees to help make visitors feel the Be Known promise during their time on campus tomorrow.

A few things to note:

  • Plan to park in areas outside of the Stevens lot if possible to ensure enough spaces for visitors.
  • There will be tours rotating through campus and residence areas at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.
  • Consider offering a helping hand if visitors need directions or have questions about George Fox.

Thank you!

Operation Christmas Child project seeks donations, volunteers

Wednesday, November 9th, 2022

Do you have a shoebox you want to get rid of? Supplies, toys or hygiene products that you want to give to a child in need? Our Management 300 group is partnering with Operation Christmas Child to bless children across the globe.

Samaritan’s Purse collects shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. Since 1993, more than 198 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox.

The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love.

Our group is looking for the following:

  • Empty shoeboxes
  • Hygiene products
  • Small toys
  • Travel-sized supplies
  • School supplies, etc.

We are also looking for volunteers to help pack these shoe boxes! If you would rather give your time instead of supplies, we would love for you to join us in packing these shoeboxes on Friday, Dec. 2.

Please fill out this form if you would like to donate or volunteer!

Thank You!

You can contact our team member, Abby Antonov, at aantonov21@georgefox.edu if you have any questions or need further information.

Submit Fox360 alert for undergraduate student concerns

Monday, November 7th, 2022

Whether you’re a professor, student employee supervisor, or interact with undergraduate students in another capacity, this message is for you. If you have concerns about a student in the traditional undergraduate program, log into Fox360 at Fox360.georgefox.edu to submit an “alert” for the student. Submit alerts for concerns in the following areas:

  • Academic: Missing multiple classes; consistently poor academic performance (no need to submit an additional alert if midterm grades indicated poor standing)
  • Behavioral: Concerning or disruptive behaviors in or outside of class
  • Emotional: Mental health concerns; unusual emotional expression
  • Physical: Medical concerns; extreme changes in grooming, personal care
  • Social: Personal, social, or family concerns that are affecting well-being and performance

If a student is enrolled in a course but has stopped attending class or engaging in online activity (for GFD courses), please submit an alert. We assume you would have already tried reaching out to the student and have not had success reengaging the student.

The Student Support Network will assign a “case manager” to follow up with students. Case managers will do our best to give updates to faculty members who submit alerts or provide feedback. You are welcome to contact Jere Witherspoon (jwithers@georgefox.edu) or Rick Muthiah (rmuthiah@georgefox.edu) to inquire about the status of a student.

This Fox360 Quick Guide provides a visual overview of the Fox360 system; more details about using Fox360 are available in this Google Doc.

If you have questions or would like more information regarding Fox360, contact Rick Muthiah at 503-554-2314 or rmuthiah@georgefox.edu.
