George Fox employee benefits news

Monday, February 13th, 2017

Annual Open Enrollment: Feb. 14 – March 6

During open enrollment, benefit-eligible employees can make changes to benefits without a “change in status” reason. Changes made during Open Enrollment will take effect April 1, 2017.

The changes to the plans are very minimal, with The Pioneer Health Trust/Regence, Kaiser, Allegiance FSA, Lifemap, and Aflac all being offered again this year.

Whether or not you make any changes to your benefit elections, you need to complete the “Open Enrollment Election Form.” This is an electronic form that will be delivered to your George Fox email on Feb. 14, 2017. If you decide to add coverage or make any changes to your current coverage, you will need to complete the appropriate enrollment forms (available on the HR website) and return them to HR at Box 6108 by end of day Monday, March 6.

Watch your inbox for 2017-18 open enrollment rates and details!

You are invited to attend our George Fox Employee Benefit Fair Feb. 16

Come by and visit our George Fox benefit vendors! Booths will be hosted by TIAA, Regence, Kaiser, Lifemap, Allegiance (FSA), and Aflac.

Human Resources will also be hosting a booth at the fair, so stop by with your benefit questions or to turn in your open enrollment forms! Join us Thursday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Canyon Commons (Rooms 101 and 102).

Human Resources will be at the Portland Center Feb. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. in Room 142

Darby Thiessen will have open office hours for Portland Center employees. If you have benefit questions or would like to turn in your open enrollment forms, please stop in!

Tonight’s lecture topic: Is baseball still America’s ‘National Pastime’?

Sunday, February 12th, 2017

Join us for a Liberal Arts and Critical Issues presentation tonight (Monday) when author Rob Neyer presents “Baseball: Still the National Pastime?” in Hoover 105. The same presentation will be made from 5 to 6 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Polls suggest that America’s erstwhile favorite sport is now far less popular than football, with basketball and perhaps even soccer gaining fast. But is there still something to be said for baseball as America’s (or maybe the Americas’) most meaningful sport? Come hear Neyer discuss this very topic.

The theme for this semester’s LACI series is “The Future of the American Dream.” For more information, contact Laurie Fair at lfair@georgefox.edu.
