Richter Scholar proposals are due Oct. 23

Thursday, October 12th, 2023

Richter Scholar proposals are due Monday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. The Richter Scholars program at George Fox distributes funds to support student research and/or projects that are devised, initiated and carried out by individual students, with mentorship, guidance and expertise provided by a faculty mentor.

The purpose of these funds is to support educational research/project opportunities that encourage the practices of independent thought leading to independent achievement and personal responsibility. For the purpose of this program, research/project is defined as a knowledge-generating activity that is designed to provide new information on a topic, tool or process, and that proceeds according to established and accepted methods.

Before preparing a proposal, please read through the full proposal guidelines, eligibility requirements, and review criteria at this link. All submittals will be electronic.

Please review this information about midterm grades, failing, withdrawal, and academic resources

Thursday, October 12th, 2023

Midterm grades provide an accurate picture of your academic progress so far this semester. Professors will be entering midterm grades between Oct. 14 and Oct. 18.

The last day to withdraw from a class in which you may be struggling without a graded responsibility is Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023. If you withdraw from a class, your transcript will show a “W.” If you do not withdraw and receive an F in the course, your GPA will suffer.

To check your grades in Canvas, log in to the Dashboard. On the right-hand side of the screen is a button titled “VIEW GRADES”. Here is a link to your Canvas Dashboard. If your professor has not yet given you a midterm grade, please contact them right away to find out where you stand in that course and have a conversation about your progress in the course.

Information regarding withdrawing from a class can be found here.

Students who received a D or an F on their midterms should contact their CAP coach as soon as possible to discuss the consequences of withdrawing from a class. If a student withdraws from a class, they should also contact their CAP coach to discuss their class schedule for future semesters. Follow this link to contact CAP coaches.

Academic resources for students are easily accessible on campus:

Students who fail all of their classes may have their financial aid package affected. If you have federal financial aid and are not passing any classes, please contact your student accounts advisor immediately.

If have any questions or need assistance, please contact studentlife@georgefox.edu.
