Kaiser is bringing flu shot clinic to campus on Nov. 3

Kaiser is bringing its “Getaflushot” clinic to the Newberg campus! Shots will be available from 11:40 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. (note new time) on Friday, Nov. 3, in the Klages Center’s Room 231 (by the Bruin Store).

Employees, spouses and children (ages 18 or over) are also welcome. There is no cost for Kaiser members; just show up! If you are not a Kaiser member, “Getaflushot” bills most major insurance, including Regence (be sure to bring your ID card with you).

Please avoid parking in Hoover and Stevens lots today

The undergraduate admissions office is welcoming hundreds of students to campus today (Friday). Please be courteous to our guests by avoiding the Stevens and Hoover parking lots all day.

Dine at Sandwich Express on Nov. 2, support PT’s trip to Africa

Stress management class still has some openings

Due to popular demand, the Health and Counseling Center has added a second stress management class. Learn strategies to manage and overcome your stress and anxiety! Develop the skills to be free from unnecessary worry and fear. Classes meet at 5 p.m. on Nov. 2, Nov. 9 and Nov. 16.

Professor Brian Snider presents talk on artificial intelligence Monday

The university community is invited to join the Science and Religion Club for a special presentation at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in Canyon Commons 102. Computer science professor Brian Snider will give a short talk about artificial intelligence technologies, followed by a discussion of how these technologies might be considered in light of Christian understandings of the world.

There will be free junk food, and elective chapel credit is available for students!

Hear from VeggieTales and Portal animation icon tonight in Canyon Commons

Come out tonight (Thursday) to hear Keith Lango, an icon in the world of animation. He’s currently an animator at Valve, a leading developer of one of the most innovative games of the decade, Portal. He has also been an animator at Blur Studio, Big Idea Productions and VFX Studios, animating movies and 3D games such as Disney’s “Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas,” “Portal 2,” “Team Fortress 2” and several VeggieTales episodes.

Join us in Canyon Commons at 7 p.m. Come hear this Seattle creative talk about his life as an animator, director and artist for over 22 years, and hear how he’s expanding beyond animation into story, films, ideas and faith.

Houses and Apartments West host trick-or-treating

The Houses and Apartments West neighborhood on campus is hosting trick-or-treating from 6 to 7 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31! This is open to all students, faculty and staff.

This is a family-friendly environment, so bring those cute kiddos! Costumes are encouraged for all ages. There will also be a carved pumpkin contest happening at Hoskins House, so stop by and cast your vote for the best pumpkin.

University community invited to ‘Great Turkey’ event on Thanksgiving Day

A George Fox alumnus invites the university community to join in the Great Turkey Fumble 5K/1K run this year on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 23. This event is a benefit for Newberg FISH. Last year, the event raised more than $1,900 and 250 pounds of nonperishable food for Newberg FISH.

  • Date: Thursday, Nov. 23
  • Location: Newberg High School’s football field
  • Time: 8:45 a.m.
  • Cost: $26; $15 (under age 10)
  • All entries receive a free football and T-shirt!

Celebrate Latino culture tonight at Koinonia

Tonight (Thursday) is the next meeting of the monthly event series Koinonia, a gathering at which we learn about and celebrate the many cultures represented in our student body. This month we will gather for rich discussions, delicious food and awesome activities in partnership with the Latino Heritage Club!

The LHC strives to support the George Fox Latino community and create space for the university to experience Latino food, art, dances and traditions. The club works toward emphasizing the importance of higher education for the Latino community.
