Please review this information about midterm grades, failing, withdrawal, and academic resources

Tuesday, February 25th, 2025

Midterm grades provide an accurate picture of students’ academic progress so far this semester. Midterm grade entry starts Saturday, March 1, and ends on Wednesday, March 5.

Students are to follow these instructions to check their midterm grades in MyGeorgeFox. If you are a professor who has not yet given a midterm grade by Wednesday night, students are being instructed to check Canvas or contact you to find out where they stand in that course.

Students who are earning a D or an F at midterm should meet with their professor to discuss what they can do to improve their grade. If it is unlikely the student will pass, they are to contact their CAP coach and financial aid counselor as soon as possible to discuss the consequences of withdrawing from a class. Some students should not withdraw from any classes due to VA benefits or other factors.

If a student withdraws from a class, they should contact their CAP Coach to discuss their class schedule for future semesters.

The last day to withdraw from a class without a graded responsibility is Sunday, April 28. If students are not likely to pass a class, withdrawing earlier might help them be more successful in their other classes. If they withdraw from a class, their transcript will show a “W” and the course will not affect their GPA. If they do not withdraw and receive an F in the course, their GPA will suffer.

Information about withdrawing from a class can be found on this web page; instructions for withdrawing from a class can be found there as well.

Academic resources for students are easily accessible on campus:

Students who fail all of their classes may have their financial aid package affected. If they have federal financial aid and are not passing any classes, they are to contact the student accounts office immediately at studentaccountsdir@georgefox.edu.

If you have any questions, please contact studentlife@georgefox.edu.

Practice civil discourse at ‘Community Conversations: Trump So Far’ on Wednesday

Sunday, February 23rd, 2025

Remember: Wednesday, Feb. 26, is your chance to hear Newberg Mayor Bill Rosacker’s conversation with George Fox’s own Rick Muthiah on the topic “Trump So Far: Good, Bad or Indifferent?”

Bill and Rick will continue a conversation they began in January about their different views of the new Trump administration’s actions. Then attenders, sitting in small groups at tables, will have their own versions of this conversation.

Come to see if the people at your table can hear each other, learn to summarize each other’s views accurately and fairly, and build stronger personal connections across political differences.

The event will be in Canyon Commons from 7 to 8:45 p.m. For more information, contact Ron Mock at rmock@georgefox.edu.
