Applications are now being accepted for 2020-21 ARC consultants. If you know students who write well, are thoughtful learners, and desire to support peers in their academic success, please encourage them to apply.
Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply; representation from multiple disciplines strengthens the ARC’s ability to support a wide range of students.
Completed materials are due by Friday, March 13. Application instructions are available at the ARC application page.

Join the George Fox climbing community on Friday, March 6, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. for the second annual Bruin Boulder Bash. This is going to be a night of fun and friendly competition featuring a raffle throughout the evening for participants.Â

The university community is invited to a special presentation, “King’s Speech: Preaching Reconciliation in a World of Violence and Chasm,” at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday)Â in Hoover 105.
Presenting will be George Fox’s own Sunggu Yang, an assistant professor of Christian ministries. He is the author of two books, King’s Speech: Preaching Reconciliation in a World of Violence and Chasm (2019) and Evangelical Pilgrims from the East: Faith Fundamentals of Korean American Protestant Diasporas (2016), and two books that are in progress, Picasso and Preaching: An Aesthetic Homiletic for the 21st Century and Sacred Waters: Pastoral Essays for Aspiring Preachers.

Encourage undergraduates who have high aptitude as writers and an ability to communicate well with their classmates to apply to be Advanced Writing Fellows starting in fall 2020.
Advanced Writing Fellows are writing specialists who work with LIBA 100 students to assist their LIBA 100 writing projects through one-on-one consultations and small-group workshops.
AWF duties include meeting with students to discuss their writing; moderating student writing groups; visiting LIBA 100 classes; attending a weekly staff meeting; and completing administrative duties (e.g., maintaining appointment records, researching tutoring strategies, and attending training).

All are invited to the Spring 2020 Faculty Lecture on Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m. in Hoover 105. Our featured speaker, and recipient of the 2018-19 Faculty Achievement Award for Graduate Research and Scholarship, is Leah Payne, assistant professor of theology.
Payne is a historian of Christianity in America, and her analysis of religion, politics and popular culture has appeared in The Washington Post and Christianity Today. Join us as Payne explores “the contemporary Christian” and how evangelicals in the United States were shaped by the entertainment business of the late 20th century.
Come early, between 5 and 6 p.m., and check out the work of our Richter Student Scholars and Steinfeldt Peace Scholars at a symposium in the Hoover lobby. George Fox students will present their research projects in a conversational poster format. Refreshments will be served.
