Thrive Together: Take this week’s Kindness Challenge

Sunday, June 4th, 2023

Greetings, George Fox! As we strive to live out our Christian values, we are excited to kick off a week-long Kindness Challenge (June 5-11).

Inspired by the words of Ephesians 4:32, which states, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you,” we invite you to participate in small acts of kindness toward your colleagues, students and community.

Participation in the Kindness Challenge is voluntary. If you participate, we encourage you to print out or save the game board, which lists a variety of kindness activities.

How you participate is up to you. You can choose to complete all the activities in one row, column or diagonal at some point during the week, or you can use a random dice generator to determine a row (first die) and column number (second die) to randomly pick an activity/challenge for that day.

For those who really wish to challenge themselves, try to complete as many activities as possible across the week.

At the end of the week, you’ll have the option of filling out a response form to enter a drawing for a gift. We’d love it if you choose to take a picture, or do a very short video, of any of your favorite challenge activities this week. We’ll provide a space for you to share those (if you want to) in the response form.

Kindness is a gift everyone can afford! Let’s spread positivity and make a difference together!

University hosts annual Day of Prayer on June 14

Thursday, June 1st, 2023

Don’t forget to mark Wednesday, June 14, on your calendar for the university’s annual Day of Prayer.

We are setting this day aside for university employees to spend their usual work hours in prayer and spiritual retreat. You may do so on campus, off campus, in your home, or at an alternative site.

So, why a Day of Prayer? This helps us begin the 2023-24 year prayerfully attentive to how God was present this past year while also discerning his direction for the year ahead. As a Christ-centered university, we have the opportunity to intentionally seek God, remembering that we are stewards – caretakers of this place that belongs to God, seeking the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, and trusting God as we enter into a new year.

The second Wednesday of June has been designated by George Fox to be a day dedicated to prayer. The Office for Spiritual Life will send out materials before June 14 to guide your time as needed.
