Donate a new pillow and/or blanket for Serve Day

Thursday, September 7th, 2023

For Serve Day, the spiritual life team is happy to partner with Bybee Lake Hope Center in Portland, which provides transitional housing to support Portland metro community members experiencing houselessness.

This year, a large group of students will be putting together welcome kits for people moving into their new space at the Hope Center. We need you to help by donating 75 new and unused pillows and blankets. Please drop them by the SpiL/Barclay House by 5 p.m. this Monday, Sept. 11. Anything that gets donated will be matched and doubled by the spiritual life department.

Thanks for your participation! Contact Tallie Sawatsky at tsawatsky21@georgefox.edu with any questions.

Volunteer with SOLVE tomorrow to help protect local waterways

Thursday, September 7th, 2023

Did you know that less than 1% of the world’s water supply is available as drinking water? Learn more on this fact here and here.

In light of that, this a reminder about the Stewards of Sustainability Club’s first event of the year tomorrow (Saturday)! As part of a statewide effort to clean up our beaches and rivers, SOLVE is hosting a volunteer event to remove litter and replace invasive plants with native ones in one of Newberg’s natural spaces. We would like to join in their effort to protect our local waterways!

We will be meeting in front of the Roberts building’s main doors at 8:40 a.m. to walk over together, and expect to be back by 11:45 a.m. You can also meet us there at 346 Corinne Dr., in Newberg. Gloves and tools will be provided.

If you have not signed up but would like to join, please fill out this form. Both students and employees are welcome. Hope to see you there!
